The Cheers to Wine Story
Carmen brings over 30 years of experience in the field of wine making and wine appreciation. As long time members of the American Wine Society (AWS) Carmen and his wife Robin served for over a dozen years as the Co-Chairs of the Fairfield County, CT Chapter, and Carmen also served as a member of the AWS National Executive Board as Regional Vice President for the state of Connecticut. During this time he also twice served as the Assistant Chairman for the AWS National Convention held at Greenwich, CT. For over fifteen years Carmen has taught both wine making and wine appreciation classes and seminars at special events, Community Colleges and of course at Cheers to Wine.
As a previous home wine maker, he won numerous medals at National and State amateur wine making competitions. Carmen has served as a wine judge for both amateur and professional/commercial National and State competitions. Carmen is currently a member of the Society of Wine Educators (SWE) and continues his studies toward becoming a Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW). Carmen is an active member of the Rotary of Lakewood Ranch and serves as the Wine Chairman for the Rotary’s annual Suncoast Food & Wine Festival. Carmen and Robin have been residents of Lakewood Ranch since November 2006, having previously lived in Connecticut and the Washington, D.C. areas.

Ruth has been at our shop since the day we opened. She was born and raised in the Washington DC area and moved to Lakewood Ranch in 2005. Ruth enjoys traveling, family and friends, cooking and of course wine. Stop in and see Ruth, you never know what she’ll put on special!
Nick began his wine journey pouring wines at tasting events in the area for a large wine supplier. He is a avid musician having toured with a band for several years, and continues to perform locally on a regular basis.

Kate grew up in Wayne, NJ and is a graduate of Ramapo College of New Jersey. She is married with two young children and teaches a few mornings a week at her daughter’s pre-school. In addition to her love of wine her other interests include boating and spending time with her family.
