Reserva Cabernet Franc 2014
91 Points ~ James Suckling
90 Points ~ Wilfred Wong
Ruby delicate color, aromas of cherry, raspberry, currant leaves and fruits. This Reserva Cabernet Franc also expresses spicy notes, herbs and cassis. Rich and full body, very expressive in term of aromas with sweet tannins and long finish.
- Barbecued meat, chicken, duck or quail meat seasoned with herbs.
- Hard cheeses
Reserva Cardonnay 2016
Golden color with fresh citrus aromas. Although it is a full-bodied wine in the mouth, it is a clean wine with fresh flavors of grapefruit and pineapple complemented by mineral notes. The finish is persistent and refreshing with a rich texture and crisp acidity.
- Roasted chicken, veal, turkey
- Grilled fish
- Braised shellfish
Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
87 Points ~ Wine Enthusiast
Dark ruby in color, this excellent Cabernet Sauvignon offers a nose with notes of cherries and fresh plums. On the palate, there are redcurrant flavors with shades of green peppers, combined with notes of truffle and cassis due to its brief time in oak barrels with a long and vibrant finish.
- Red meat with a strong character, such as entrecote or lamb
- Smoked game meat and pasta with complex sauces.
Mendoza is a winegrowing region with a combination that is unique in the world in terms of altitude, desert climate, low humidity and natural meltwater irrigation. The Mendoza province is the biggest and most important wine region in Argentina, producing more than 80% of the country’s premium wines. It is located at the foot of the Andes mountain range on Argentina’s western border. This region’s desert climate is unique with low rainfall and 300 sunny days per year. Meltwater flows from the Andes to the vineyards as natural irrigation. The low pest prevalence, as well as the low unwanted humidity, rot and fungi mean that the need to use pesticides or fungicides is almost unnecessary.
Argento Reserva is a limited selection of fuller-bodied wines with a greater concentration of fruit and complexity. The grapes used to make these wines come from their oldest vineyards in Mendoza, where productions are steadier. These grapes are exceptionally intense and expressive. These wines age in oak barrels for 6 to 9 months, thus providing rich complex flavors on the palate and a soft mouth texture. This winery is very proud of their country’s viticultural heritage and Mendoza’s unique terroir. They devote themselves to making wines that emphasize the characteristics of the style and spirit of Bodega Argento’s wines: fruit purity, freshness, intensity, elegance, balance and the maximum expression of the vineyard “terroir” where the grapes come from.
The winery is located at Cruz de Piedra, Maipú, in the Central Region of Mendoza. It was built in 1970 and was designed by architect ‘Chicho’ Pitela. The structure is of Mediterranean style with wide galleries, arcades and vitreaux which confer a very warm illumination and grant the place with an environment that reflects the one from where the vineyards are grown. The winery is surrounded by vineyards and olive trees that overlook the mountain range from which Tupungato hill and the renowned Cordón del Plata must be highlighted. Bodega Argento embraces a constant spirit of improvement by linking technology with passion, art, knowledge and the Argentinian oenological tradition with the clear goal of respecting both sustainability and the environment.
